Infrastructure
Administrative block: KVK has a well developed administrative building with an area of 550 sq. mt consisting of office, well equipped soil & water testing Laboratory and Seminar hall. Farmers hostel: KVK has well equipped farmers hostel (305 sq. mt) with Kitchen, Dining hall and Recreation hall which can accommodate 30 farmers at a time. Roof rain water harvesting module with harvested rain water collection tank of 30,000 ltr capacity has also been established in the hostel to educate the trainees.
KVK Instructional Farm: KVK has 20 ha of land developed with minor fruit crops (Aonla, Custard Apple) on eroded soil, Agri –Silvi-Pasture on medium red soil and curry leaf on the road side installed with drip irrigation to educate the farmer in efficient utilization of the land for sustainable agriculture. The other activities such as farm trials and vegetable seed production have also been taken up under alternate land use systems. Recently, integrated farming system modules (IFS) instruction al demonstration & micro watershed and re-utilization of the water through sprinkler and drip irrigation system for vegetable and horticultural components have been developed.
Demonstration Units: AS a part of the collaborative work with the Dept. of Horticulture AC, Dharwad a demonstration unit of improved potato crop storage structure was established by using the technology and the funds provided by Mc Gill University Canada during the year 2006-07 for educating the trainees and potato growers of Dharwad district.
