Outsourcing Activities

Outsourcing activity was initiated in collaboration with Infrasys, Bangalore at Guddada Hulikatti village of Kalaghatagi taluk. Infrasys made an investment of Rs. 45,000 in the 15 horticulturists who formed a SHG called “Samruddhi Progressive Organic horticulturists self help group” with the effort of KVK, Dharwad during the year of 2006-07. The organic group now produces Vermicompost, a key ingredient for successful organic farming. Each farmer speaks in praise of the switch to organic methods. They are unanimous in saying that the yields were higher, the quality superior & their produce fetched a better price in the market. Shelf life too has improved.

· Mass production of Vermicompost

· Bio-fencing fields with Glyrcidia bushes

· Organic Azolla production

· Jamoon & Tamarind trees along the road side

· Low cost forage production on bunds

Organic village programme

· Azolla units -25 Nos. Horizontal spread of 150 units over 30 locations across Dharwad district.

· Panchagavya and botanical insecticides preparation units – 25No

· Horticulture component - mango, guava, sapota and curry leaf – 20 ac

· Field crops- Jowar, Greengram, Groundnut, Soybean, Paddy & minor millet

· Farm ponds – 10 Nos

· Distribution of forest trees – 20,000 Nos

· Animal component -50 Nos. (5 cows & 50 goats/sheep)

· Poultry birds- 25 Nos. (Giri rani)
